Jet officially reached 100 days on August 14, 2019! We celebrated by going down to LA so that Jet could meet my side of the family. We are so thankful for everyone, especially those who flew in / drove hours just to celebrate with us! I’m very happy he got to meet so many of his aunties, uncles, and cousins for the first time.
Read MoreIs there anything better than a baby’s sweet smile? We are so lucky that Jet blesses our days with his sweet smile! Beginning in the second month, he started smiling socially with everyone, and it feels like he smiles more and more every day. I’m so in love.
Read MoreIn August, we visited LA so Jet could meet my side of the family. At first, I was nervous, but he ended up traveling so well! With our busy schedules (even busier now with the baby), it’s hard for me to go down to LA a lot, but it was so important that we did. Jet had so much fun, and we can’t wait for our next visit!
Read MoreMonth 2 has been so much fun, and I know it just gets better from here. It’s amazing to see him develop and change day by day. It’s the subtle but obvious things - turning when he hears our voice, following objects with his eyes, engaging with his environment, and responding with all of his different facial expressions. We love him so much!
Read MoreJet is one month old today, June 6, 2019! I can’t believe how quickly time flies! It’s been a whirlwind of a month. He’s now 8 lb 6 oz and growing. He loves falling asleep on his mommy, being bounced by his daddy, and being talked to for hours by his grandma. He’s not a very good sleeper yet and only sleeps for 1-2 hours at time, but we’re getting the hang of our new schedule.
Read MoreOur little cutie pie had a little photo shoot at our house when he was two weeks old. The pictures came out so cute, and the whole ordeal was hilarious. It takes a lot of tries and poop on blankets to get these shots. He’s so adorable!
Read MoreLast weekend, we went back to Saratoga and busted out Jeff’s old baby albums. Who will baby look like? Here are a few fun side-by-side pictures of me and Jeff as kids. (Jeff - left, Mitzi - right)
Read MoreIt’s been hard to keep up with posting, but I’m committing to creating this space to document my experience so I’m a little behind! Baby is about the size of a pineapple (even bigger now), and he is still growing. I feel my body expanding dramatically in this final stretch! We are spending a lot more time these days at UCSF with extra monitoring and testing, all in preparation for an early induction.
Read MoreWe are in the final weeks of our 2nd trimester and baby is the size of a cantaloupe! He’s tumbling around my belly like a little gymnast, especially around 4-5am in the morning when mommy wakes up. I am loving being pregnant in the 2nd trimester. I’m full of energy and appetite. Jeff and I finished our birth classes, and we made our first big purchase - a stroller!
Read MoreBaby is having a growth spurt! He is about 6.5 inches long - the size of a banana! Jeff and I have been noticing my belly growing visibly every single day. Baby has been very very lively - this kid loves to move around and kick all day long! As for me, I’m just trying to stay rested and stress free! As usual, work is demanding, but actively compartmentalizing has been helpful.
Read MoreTonight, instead of our normal bedtime routine of talking to baby, we decided to write baby a little letter together. I prompted this idea as I was thinking of all the best traits I hoped baby would inherit and learn from me and Jeff. In a lot of ways, Jeff and I complement each other, and we hope baby will get the best parts of both of us! But in the end, it doesn’t matter who this little guy is or will become, because we will love him regardless

Read MoreBaby is about the size of a pomegranate now! Baby can hear sounds (we talk to baby every night!), has finger prints, and has all the girl/boy parts in place — which means we get to find out the gender next week. Very exciting! Mommy is also feeling pretty good and starting to look real pregnant. I’m trying to stay mindful and keep a diligent meditation practice to stay calm amidst craziness at work. Second trimester is going great - we’re trying to stay happy, healthy, and stress free.
Read MoreFinally getting around to writing about my week in Joshua Tree getting certified to be a prenatal yoga instructor! This training not only helped me navigate through this new and exciting experience, but also gave me the tool kit to share my experience to help other expecting moms! I will ALWAYS remember Joshua Tree as the place where amazing wonders happened — I became a part of a community; I found my voice as a mother; I felt my baby move for the first time; I gained a wealth of knowledge to go forth and share with the world.
Read MoreThis is a little letter to my baby to thank this miracle child for the gift of joy, of motherhood, of strength, and of faith. I love this baby so much already. I will always remember this joyous moment — the first time I felt my baby move in my belly <3
Read MoreWe are now into our second trimester! Baby is about the size of an orange now, can sense light, and can move all his/her limbs. Best of all, I’m starting to actually see a noticeable bump! Mommy is feeling better too overall - I have less nausea (but way more gas and bloating) and a lot more energy. At this point, I’m expected to gain about a pound of weight a week, but since last week was Thanksgiving… I’m giving myself some leeway on that.
Read MoreWow! I don’t think there is anything quite like seeing this little human together for the first time. At this point, I wasn’t really showing at all, so it was pretty unbelievable to see this little miracle on the big screen! It was also very endearing to see how excited Jeff was, who up until this point, I would describe more as “frightened” than excited. It was a big moment for him!
Read MoreWe decided we wanted to tell our family, friends, and coworkers about the pregnancy essentially right away. Though we were advised by some people to keep it a secret for as long as you can (ex: until second trimester when I really start showing), I felt strongly that the sooner the better. This is the story of why we decided to spill the beans early and how we did it!
